Traffic is flowing once again on E Franklin Street after Chapel Hill police blocked off both lanes of traffic shortly before 11 o’clock Monday morning to investigate a suspicious package.

Chapel Hill Police Chief Chris Blue tells WCHL that the bomb squad was called in from Durham County and detonated the package. Blue could not give any further details on what the package contained. He says that the contents will be analyzed in the coming days and that the investigation is ongoing.

You can hear Chief Blue with WCHL’s Ron Stutts and Blake Hodge below:

If you have any information about the contents of the package or who placed it in the 700 block of E Franklin St, you are asked to contact Chapel Hill Police.

WCHL will have more details when available.
