CHAPEL HILL – Chapel Hill Police responded to gunshots in the 4300 block of Pope Road near Clark Lake Tuesday morning.

Public Information Sargent Bryan Walker says police are looking for armed suspects in a four-door white sedan but that they don’t believe there is a threat to the public.

“The initial report we received indicates that there were three suspects. However, the investigation is still on-going, and we are still working leads,” Walker says.

Sgt. Walker says one person was taken to UNC Hospitals with non-life threatening gunshot wounds to the wrist and abdomen Tuesday morning. That person’s identity and condition are not known.

Pope Road is located in the east-northeast part of Chapel Hill between 15-501/Fordham Blvd. and I-40.
