Glenwood Elementary School and St. Thomas More School were put on lockdown early Friday afternoon, following a reported shooting at a Christopher Road residence in the Glen Lennox area of Chapel Hill.

Police responded to a report of a break-in and arrived to find one man had been shot. The man has not been identified, but police say he is not the resident of the home. He’s being treated at UNC Hospitals.

The precautionary lockdown was lifted earlier this afternoon. Police assisted Glenwood Elementary in making sure students boarded buses safely at the end of the school day.

Police say there’s no ongoing threat to resisdents in the area. No other details were immediately available.

9:00 p.m. Update from CHPD

The subject was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is not being released pending notification of next of kin. The deceased was not a resident at the address.

Bartholomew Romidas ScottBartholomew Romidas Scott (DOB 01/14/1979) has been arrested and charged with First Degree Murder. Scott was transported to the Orange County Jail and is being held without bond.

Both St. Thomas More School and Glenwood Elementary School were put into lockdown as a precaution during the initial phase of the investigation. There was no direct threat to either school.

The investigation is ongoing and further information may be released when it becomes available.
