DURHAM – Durham police conducted a citywide search for a 21-year-old man Thursday afternoon who is accused of firing shots on North Carolina Central University’s campus.

Crandall Ingram, a former N.C. Central student, was identified by police as the man who reportedly fired three or four shots on campus around 2:40 p.m. near Concord and Lawson streets, WRAL reported.

Ingram fled in a cream, four-door Audi and was last seen headed southeast of campus, police said.

NCCU Police detained the man Ingram is accused of trying to shoot and brought him in for questioning. The man was not injured.

The shooting forced the university to lock down the campus for about 35 minutes. Police gave the “all clear” shortly after 3 p.m.

As of 6:00 p.m. Thursday, Ingram had not been apprehended.
