A pedestrian was struck and killed on Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard in Chapel Hill on Sunday night.

Police say the collision occurred around 8:30 p.m. Sunday near Critz Drive. The crash caused both northbound lanes of the thoroughfare to be closed Sunday night.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Authorities say the cause of the collision is under investigation.

The is the second time a pedestrian was killed on Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard in Chapel Hill in 2018.
