Hillsborough Police have created a phone number that will allow callers to anonymously leave information about criminal activity.

Officials say the phone line is routed directly to voicemail and is separate from the main phone system used by the department. The Tip Line system will not record callers’ phone numbers, according to a release, and if callers wish to be contacted, they must leave a name and phone number.

Authorities are encouraging callers to leave as much information as possible when calling the Tip Line.

Callers should still dial 911 in case of any emergency.

Hillsborough Police are currently seeking information regarding two incidents – a shooting that left two men injured and the massive fire at the former Bellevue Mill last month that has been deemed suspicious.

The Tip Line can be reached at (919) 732-3975 and anonymous crime tips can also be submitted through the town’s website.
