Eve Carson Killer To Be Re-Sentenced Monday
HILLSBOROUGH – Laurence Lovette Jr., one of two men convicted in the 2008 death of former UNC student body president Eve Carson, will be re-sentenced Monday.
Lovette, now 22, was convicted in 2011 of first-degree murder, kidnapping and armed robbery, and sentenced to life without the possibility for parole—but recent Supreme Court ruling mandating review of automatic sentencing guidelines means that Lovette, who was 17 at the time of the murder, should be re-sentenced.
The re-sentencing hearing was originally scheduled for April 26 in Hillsborough.
Demario Atwater, 25, was also convicted in Carson’s death. He is serving two life terms in prison after pleading guilty to state and federal charges.Did you see something wrong in this story, or something missing? Let us know
