CHAPEL HILL – Chapel Hill Police are searching for a suspect in connection with a car chase involving a stolen vehicle that happened Saturday night.

Sergeant Jeff House of the CHPD said that officers responded at 7:30 p.m. to a call reporting a stolen vehicle on Lindsay St.

House said the two suspects, identified as Marvin Ovie, 23, and Gregory Harris, 28, fled the scene in the stolen 2012 Buick, and then crashed at the intersection of Rosemary St. and Glenburnie St.  Officers tracked the vehicle using the GPS system, On-Star.

House said reports indicated that Harris was the driver, lost control of the vehicle, and crashed into a stone wall. The single-car wreck happened within an hour of the initial call.

“The occupants of the vehicle fled from the vehicle. This led to a short canine track, and one of the people that fled from the vehicle was apprehended,” House said. “The other subject got away.”

Ovi was arrested on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest. Harris was the suspect that got away. House said that he has outstanding warrants for his arrest. The police report listed Harris as a black male, approximately 5’3’ and 170 lbs.

***UPDATE: The Chapel Hill Police bulletin has Harris listed as being arrested early Monday morning. Information regarding his arrest was not immediately known.
