Chatham County authorities have arrested an individual on drug charges after a search of a Moncure home.

Deputies from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office searched a home on Pittsboro Moncure Road earlier this month. Law enforcement officials said in a release the home was occupied by an individual that authorities described as a “suspected drug supplier.”

The search of the residence led to the seizure of “nearly 34 grams of cocaine and crack cocaine as well as individually wrapped baggies of marijuana.” Authorities took 53-year-old Kelvin Rondell Dowdy into custody on narcotics charges.

Dowdy is facing counts of trafficking cocaine, felony possession of cocaine, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance and possession of marijuana.

Dowdy was assigned a $130,000 secured bond, according to the sheriff’s office, and was scheduled to make an appearance in Chatham County District Court in Pittsboro on Monday, March 26.
