Chatham County authorities are searching for a suspect reportedly involved in a shooting over the weekend.
Deputies with the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a reported shooting on Newland Street in Siler City on Saturday, February 3.
Law enforcement officials said in a release that the incident allegedly escalated to the shooting after starting as an argument. One victim was transported to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.
Warrants were obtained for 20-year-old Chesley Dion McSwain, based off of witness reports. McSwain has been charged with felony counts of attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injuries and four counts of assault inflicting serious injury with a minor present, four counts of assault with a deadly weapon with a minor present and one count each of assault on a female, assault with a deadly weapon and communicating threats.
