***UPDATE: Chapel Hill Police have announced the arrests of 22-year-old Ramone Jamarr Alston and 23-year-old Pierre Je Bron Moore, both men have Carrboro addresses. Both were charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Maleah Williams. Alston was arrested on Jones Ferry Road in Carrboro. Moore turned himself in at the Chapel Hill Police Department, according to law enforcement. Both suspects were placed in the Orange County Jail under a $1 million bond.***

The one-year-old girl shot on Christmas Day in Chapel Hill died on Monday, according to a post from her family members on the gofundme page that had been established for the victim.

The suspect in the shooting made his first court appearance on Monday afternoon.

22-year-old Shaquille Oneill Davis appeared via video in front of District Court Judge Joe Buckner on charges of attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury in connection with the shooting of Maleah Williams. Those charges are likely to change following Williams’ death.

Buckner held Davis’ bond at $650,000 and issued conditions if Davis were to be released on bond, including not to possess a firearm and not to have contact with the victim’s family.

Davis is accused of shooting Williams just before six o’clock in the evening on Christmas Day in the area of 751 Trinity Court. Police say the shots were fired from a vehicle leaving the apartment complex.

Davis was taken into custody on Sunday.
