Carrboro Man Arrested For Burglary And Attempted Rape

CARRBORO- The Carrboro Police Department made an arrest early Friday morning in a burglary and attempted rape.

Lt. Chris Atack says that at approximately 4:00 a.m. Friday, Carrboro Police responded to a call in the 100 block of Fidelity Street involving Francisco Javier Diaz.

“Further investigation revealed that Mr. Diaz had broken into a residence and sexually assaulted a female resident who was inside.”

Lt. Atack says the 33-year-old Carrboro resident was charged with two felonies and a misdemeanor.

“He was charged with attempted first degree rape and first degree burglary as well as sexual battery.”

Diaz is being held at Orange County Jail under a $100,000 bond.
