The Station in Carrboro will reopen on Thursday, April 7.

According to their website, The Station will serve up craft beer, cocktails, and live music in a historic train station in downtown Carrboro.

The bar/music venue closed in December.

The Station is now owned by Andrew Moore.  Moore is currently the owner of nearby Venable Rotisserie Bistro and B-Side Lounge.

He now also owns CrossTies Barbecue, which is scheduled to open in May.  CrossTies will occupy the space previously held by Southern Rail and the Tiger Room.

To celebrate the musical heritage of the venue, The Station will host a “Secret Show” on Friday, April 22.

From The Station website:

“The Station is a historic landmark older even than the name “Carrboro.” Built in 1882, it was the focal point of the town–then called West End. The space, which originally housed the local train depot, also holds a place in music history: Elizabeth Cotton was inspired to write her famous folk song, Freight Train, in the early 1900s as tribute to the trains that stopped in Carrboro, which she could hear at night from the bedroom of her childhood home. It’s also the location that R. E. M. chose to play their first show outside of their home state of Georgia in 1980. In the past century, the space has been home to an assortment of businesses, only to come full circle back to its musical beginnings.”

The bar will be open Monday-Friday from 5:00 PM to 2:00 AM.  On Saturdays and Sundays, it will be open from noon until 2:00 AM.
