CHAPEL HILL – Former North Carolina Senator and presidential contender, John Edwards has reactivated his license to practice law a year removed from his acquittal on one of six charges of campaign finance fraud.

The Associated Press reports that Edwards is scheduled to appear at a private retreat in Orlando, Florida on June 6 to speak with lawyer clients of the marketing firm PMP.

Records with the N.C. State Bar show Edward’s license has been inactive for more than a decade.

Edwards said after his trial last year that he hoped to someday open an advocacy law firm to serve needy clients and find a way to positively contribute to society.

Calls to Edwards’ home were unanswered Friday morning, and his voicemail was not accepting messages at the time.
