Looking for something to do this Valentine’s weekend? The North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival is wrapping up, with two more days of shows Saturday and Sunday.

Hosted each February by the DSI Comedy Theater, the festival brings hundreds of improv, sketch, and standup comedians to Chapel Hill from all over the country (and Canada). This year’s headliners were standup legend Emo Philips and sketch pioneer Kevin McDonald of The Kids In The Hall.

Kevin McDonald and DSI owner/artistic director Zach Ward stopped by WCHL this week and spoke with Aaron Keck.

McDonald is running an intensive sketch comedy workshop this week, culminating in a show at Local 506 on Saturday at 7 pm. (Other remaining highlights include hip-hop improv from North Coast and all-stars from New York City’s Magnet Theater, both performing Saturday night at the ArtsCenter; a late-night all-in-the-dark improv show called “The Bat”; and at DSI on Sunday, the finals of the “Carolina’s Funniest Comic” competition.)
