Tarantula Mating Season

Hikers in southern California have been warned to watch out for tarantulas.  Apparently, it is mating season for the spiders.  The National Parks Service says the mating season will last until the end of October.  Until then, hikers can expect to see male tarantulas just about the ground outside the females’ burrows.
