The 2016 Healthiest You Challenge Finale was held tonight at the UNC Wellness Center in Meadowmont.

Sixty-four challengers and their coaches gathered to learn the final results of this six week program.

The group lost 359.4 pounds and 547.67  inches.  In addition, for this group, during the last 6 weeks, systolic blood pressure went down 478 points and diastolic blood pressure went down 303 points.

 

All of these things were part of an elaborate point system designed by Jamy McGee and her team at the UNC Wellness Center to help participants try new things and form new habits that would help them be healthier now and in the future.

Ron introduces Jamy McGee from the UNC Wellness CenterSo, they got points for things like losing inches and pounds – and for  things like attending nutrition workshops, trying a Zumba class or the climbing wall.

Altogether, this year’s participants earned a total of 14,527 points!

The individual winners with the most points earned a year long membership at the UNC Wellness Center. Second place winners earned a six-month membership at the Wellness Center.

 

Female winners for 2016 are:

  • 1st place – Amy Sangvai from The UNC Wellness Team
  • 2nd place – Denise Quails-Allen from the Durham Orange County Medical Society team

Male winners for 2016 are:

  • 1st place – Barry Tomlinson from  the Durham Orange County Medical Society team
  • 2nd place – Kevin Corbin from The UNC Wellness Team

A Better Image Printing Team

 

The team with the most points was The A Better Image Printing Team.  Each of these team members and their coaches was awarded with a Relax & Re-energize Kit.

This is WCHL’s sixth annual Healthiest You Challenge.

 

 

This year, the Challenge was presented by UNC Health Care.
