The Hunt Warriors ended the Orange Panthers run in the 3A NCHSAA playoffs with a 66-60 upset in the East Regional title game Saturday in Fayetteville.

The Panthers took the lead into the locker room at halftime after it was the Warriors who held a two-point lead through eight minutes.

But it was the third quarter that made all the difference as Hunt doubled up Orange 24-12 to take the 48-39 lead into the final frame. Despite winning the final eight minutes, it wasn’t enough, and Hunt took the upset and the East Regional title.

The Warriors will play for the state championship in the Dean Smith Center on UNC’s campus next Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
