In a ranking of 477 public institutions, Business First has named UNC the top public university in the United States.
The study used a 20-part formula, which most heavily weighed four-year graduation rate, cost and other college rankings.
Rounding out the top five were the University of Michigan, University of Virginia, University of California-Los Angeles and University of California-Berkeley.
NC State was the other North Carolina college in the top-25, coming in at 23.
Last year UNC was ranked second in this study, but took the number one spot this year.
UNC has also ranked number one as the best college value by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance in 2015, for the 15th consecutive year.
