The seventh-ranked UNC men’s tennis team shocked top-seeded Virginia to win the ITA National Indoor Championship Monday afternoon, 4-2.

UNC had never reached the final before, but claimed its spot on Sunday with a 4-2 win over No. 9 UCLA.

Not only was Virginia the No. 1 seed, the Cavaliers were also the home team, hosting the tournament in Charlottesville. But Jack Murray clinched the upset for Carolina with a three-set singles victory.

UNC is still unbeaten on the season at 10-0. Today’s match was the first time two ACC teams had ever met in the ITA Indoor final.
