Burlington Police are looking for a suspect who allegedly stole more than $15,000 worth of banjos from a local business.

Officers responded to Lowe Vintage Instrument Company in downtown Burlington on Wednesday afternoon.

Police say a suspect walked in while an employee was assisting another customer and ran out with three vintage banjos including a 1930’s blue Gibson RB11 banjo valued at $8,995, a 1960 wood grain Fender Artist banjo valued at $1,595 and a 1930 wood grain Gibson TB-2 five-string neck banjo valued at $5,495.

The suspect was described as a black male in his early 30s, estimated to be 5’ 10” tall weighing approximately 150 pounds. Police say he was wearing a black jacket and black toboggan and fled in a white vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing.

Police say the banjos were located at Worthridge Auctions in Greensboro and returned to Lowe Vintage Instrument Company.
