Local authorities have charged a Roxboro man with sex offenses against children.
A release from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office says Donald Roy Smith is facing 17 counts of various sex offenses.
Smith, of North Main Street in Roxboro, has been charged with offenses including attempted second-degree rape of a child, two counts of first-degree sex offense with a child, two counts of statutory sexual offense with a person who is 15 years of younger. Smith is also facing 12 counts of indecent liberties with a child.
Smith is being held in the Orange County Jail under a $1 million bond.
An investigation is ongoing and officials say additional charges are possible.
