The North Carolina Tar Heels moved up to 10th in the new College Football Playoff Rankings released Tuesday night.

Last week, the Tar Heels ranked at No. 14 in the College Football Playoff Rankings.  Losses by Baylor, Michigan, Oklahoma State, and Florida aided the Tar Heels’ launch into the top ten.

Clemson remained at the top spot.  Alabama is No 2.  Oklahoma stayed at 3 and Iowa is 4th.

Michigan State and Ohio State were the first two out.

Carolina moved to 11-1 with a 45-34 victory over the NC State Wolfpack.  The win was the 11th straight for the Tar Heels.

In the AP Poll, released on Sunday, the Tar Heels scored the No. 8 spot.

On Saturday night, Carolina will face the undefeated Clemson Tigers for the ACC Championship.  Kickoff is at 8 PM on 97.9 FM and 1360 AM WCHL.  Countdown to Kickoff with Ron Stutts will start the WCHL coverage at 5 PM.  If the Tar Heels can pull of the upset, many will wonder about their chances at the College Football Playoff.

The College Football Playoff Rankings are released every Tuesday from November 3 until December 1 with the final rankings getting released on Sunday, December 6.  The top four teams in the final College Football Playoff Rankings will compete in the College Football Playoff starting on December 31.
