Members of the United States Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force arrested 36-year-old Benjamin Gilbert Uhlenberg on Wednesday, after a narcotics investigation.

Chapel Hill Police say the arrest came at the conclusion of an investigation conducted by Chapel Hill and Carrboro Police.

Uhlenberg was arrested on McMasters Street in Chapel Hill and has been charged with at least 16 drug offenses including felony counts of sell or deliver cocaine and sell or deliver heroin.

While searching the address where Uhlenberg was taken into custody, authorities found a .45 caliber handgun and 23.5 grams of crack cocaine.

Police say additional charges may be brought from the items found during the search.

Uhlenberg was arrested in September in connection with a shooting at the Red Roof Inn. The victim in that case was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

He was held at the time under a $70,000 secured bond after being charged with assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Uhlenberg is being held in the Durham County Jail under a $250,000 secured bond, according to police. He is set to make his first appearance on these charges on Thursday in Durham.
