Owens has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, assault by pointing a gun and discharging a firearm in town limits.

Owens is wanted in connection with a shooting on Harper Street in late May that sent two men to the hospital.

A 38-year-old man was transported to a hospital with what was described then as potentially life-threatening injuries, according to law enforcement. Police said at the time that a second individual – a 33-year-old male – was brought to a hospital by an unknown person and was in stable condition.

Police said one of the victims has required several surgeries, still has serious health issues and will require a “lengthy recovery period.”

Police said the preliminary investigation showed the shooting was connected to shots being fired into two homes on Harper Street in May.

Officials say 18-year-old Isaiah Long of Efland is also wanted in connection with the shooting. Long has been charged with the same offenses as Owens. Long was being held in the Alamance County Jail for a robbery in Burlington.

Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Owens is asked to contact Sergeant Chip White at the Hillsborough Police Department at (919) 732-9381 extension 34 or by calling 911. Anonymous tips can also be left via the town’s website or by calling (919) 732-3975.
