Hillsborough Police have arrested a suspect previously considered armed and dangerous after a shooting last month.
Police say the US Marshals Joint Fugitive Task Force arrested 21-year-old Frank Devar DeGraffenreid around 10 o’clock Thursday morning in an apartment on North Wilkins Drive in Haw River.
DeGraffenreid and 21-year-old Takeem Haywood-Norris Turrentine, who was arrested last month, have been charged after an attempted armed robbery, according to police. The 23-year-old victim in the robbery was shot multiple times and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police previously said the suspects attempted the robbery after the victim gave them a ride across Hillsborough.
The two suspects have been charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and armed robbery. DeGraffenreid has also been charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and discharging a firearm in town limits.
The task force surrounded the Haw River apartment and attempted to make contact with the residents inside. Authorities say two people eventually exited the apartment and confirmed that the suspect was inside. A canine unit from the Alamance County Sheriff’s office assisted the task force and found DeGraffenreid hiding inside a bedroom closet. He was then arrested without further incident.
DeGraffenreid is being held under a $100,000 secured bond.
