He’s Not Here paid $15,000 to the ABC Commission Wednesday afternoon.

The fine was part of an offer in compromise. The bar was facing three separate charges of serving alcohol to underage customers.

He’s Not Here will also have their alcohol permit suspended for 21 days, starting on February 12.

The bar was investigated for allegedly serving alcohol to a group of underage patrons – including Chandler Kania – on July 19. Later that night, Kania drove the wrong way on I-85 for at least six miles, according to law enforcement, before crashing head-on into another vehicle. Three of the four passengers in the second car, including a six-year-old girl, were killed.

Kania’s blood-alcohol content the night of the crash was a .17, twice the legal limit to drive in North Carolina, according to records.

Another offer in compromise was made in September, which would have made the bar surrender all alcohol permits, but He’s Not Here refused the offer.

“This particular location has had a bad history,” said ABC Commission chair James Gardner. “And I hope, for their sake, we don’t see them back in front of this commission again. Because I don’t think the results will be the same.”

Kania is scheduled to appear in court on charges including three counts of second-degree murder in March. He is currently under house arrest at his parents’ home in Asheboro after posting a $1 million bond.
