Orange County voters will have races to decide in the primary and general election next year.

Four seats on the Board of County Commissioners will be decided in March.

All of the candidates that filed for the BOCC are listed Democrats.

The at-large seat on the board has three candidates – Andy Cagle, Matt Hughes and Mark Marcoplos.

Incumbent Bernadette Pelissier announced earlier this year she would not be seeking re-election.

Four candidates filed for the two seats up for election from District 1. Incumbents Mark Dorosin and Penny Rich will face challenges from Gary Kahn and Jamezetta Bedford.

The one District 2 seat up for election will come down to incumbent Renee Price and challenger Bonnie Hauser.

Incumbents Stephen Halkiotis and Tony McKnight were joined by Matthew Roberts filing for the three seats up for four-year terms on the Orange County School Board.

John Hamilton and Michael Hood filed for the one unexpired term that needs to be filled.

The race for Judge in North Carolina District Court 15B, which represents Orange and Chatham Counties, will have four vacancies to fill. Judges Jay Bryan and Beverly Scarlett each were the only candidates to file for those seats.

Sherri Murrell filed to challenge Lunsford Long for his Judgeship. Meanwhile, Sam Cooper and Sam Cabe have filed to run for the seat being vacated by Judge Charles Anderson.

Judicial races will be decided in November 2016.

Early voting for the primary will be held March 3 – March 12. The Primary Election will be held March 15.
