Chapel Hill Police are investigating an armed robbery from early Wednesday morning.

A police report says the incident took place around 209 Henderson Street just before one o’clock Wednesday morning and says suspects flashed handguns and then took the victim’s property.

No further information was made available by Chapel Hill Police but an Alert Carolina message was sent out just before 3:30 Wednesday afternoon.

The message to the campus community said the victim was a male UNC student who was on foot when he was approached by two black males in a dark-colored Jeep. One suspect exited the Jeep, according to the message, approached the victim and took items that included a backpack and wallet. A second suspect then allegedly took the victim’s cellphone.

The victim was not injured.

The suspects fled and were believed to be headed out of Chapel Hill, northbound on 15-501.

This is the second robbery over the last week. Another incident was reported last Friday. No updates were available in the initial case as of last update from the UNC Department of Public Safety.

Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities.
