You know you’ve got it. Even if you don’t have the fever, you know that you’ll be one of the billion people across the world viewing what is hyped to be the social event of the century. Thanks to modern technology we don’t have to get up at the pre-dawn hour of 4:00 a.m. Friday April 29th to catch all the pageantry. What did we do before the DVR and You Tube!?

Why this continued American obsession with British royalty? In my opinion, there’s one main reason to watch. We do it for Di. Lady Diana remains an iconic symbol of fashion, class and goodwill. While the world watched Will and Harry grow into manhood without their devoted mother at their side, we instinctively took the boys under our collective wing.

We owe it to Diana to attend her oldest son’s wedding, even it is from across the pond and behind the screen of our 52” plasma, iPad or smart phone. It just feels like the right thing to do in her honor. Plus, we as Americans have no royalty to call our own. Every American girl grew up wanting to be a princess and wishing to find her prince charming, so let us just pretend for one more day that those fantasies exist.

What will the major players wear? The media and fashsionistas everywhere are obsessed with that question. The designers and stylists have been sworn to secrecy. You’ll have to wait for the big day to watch it unfold. My question is what would Diana wear? No doubt something to compliment her stunning blue eyes and figure….possibly a Bruce Oldfield creation or something from the House of Dior. Of course she would never intentionally try to upstage the bride. That’s not her style. It would just happen naturally. Because when she walked into a room, time stopped and people stared. No one could ever get enough of her.

Make the Princess of Wales proud. Set your DVR and sleep in. Then, dust off your fanciest hat and break out the tea and crumpets for an afternoon viewing of what is sure to be a magical moment in royal history.
