rain boots

Let’s list some of the positives about the recent 10 day straight stretch of rain.

  • The NC drought is officially over.
  • We now know what it’s like to live in Seattle.
  • On a fashion note, we got to justify the existence of those super cute rain boots in our closet.

Rain boots have become a fashion mainstay in recent years. If you haven’t bought any yet, make the investment. And just because the weather forecast calls for a rainy day doesn’t mean you have to forego a stylish outfit. You can still wear your cute skirts, dresses and even shorts with a pair of rain boots. Yes, it’s true. You can wear your rain boots with almost anything!

Here’s how.

  1. With a Skirt – Why wouldn’t you wear your rain boots with your favorite skirt? This look is so versatile that you can rock it all year. For fall or winter simply add a pair of tights and you are good to go. Take that, rainy day! For example, I wore a rain skirt (made by Kavu) with my rain boots to the Terra Vita food fest!

  1. With a Pair of Jeans or Leggings – Your favorite pair of skinny jeans or leggings are the perfect match for your rain boots. (And those new boots The Fashion Plate encouraged you to buy are cute, so show them off!) This look also works year round. In the warmer months pair your jeans or leggings with a tank top, but when the temperatures plummet a sweater or long sleeve layers will work.

  1. With a Pair of Shorts – This may be one of the favorites, as it works so well in the South! Shorts with rain boots might be a little out of the box which is what makes it so whimsy and fun. This look works best for the summer with a tank or graphic tee. If you want to wear the look in spring or fall, pair your longer shorts with a long cardigan, a kimono fringe wrap for sass or long sleeves to keep warm. If you like to really live on the fashion edge, you can wear a cute pair of patterned tights with shorts on those chilly winter days.

The sun is finally shining again in NC, but now you’re prepared for the next stretch of rainy days in style!
