This is Jim Warren.

North Carolina is on track to greatly increase its use of solar power – at a really important time in the fight to slow climate change.

The bipartisan Energy Freedom Act would allow well-financed companies to install solar power on customers’ property at no up-front cost – then sell them the power at lower rates than they’re now paying.

The Energy Freedom Act would make rooftop solar more accessible to people at all income levels.

And every new solar panel helps all customers by eliminating Duke Energy’s case to keep raising rates to build power plants we don’t need.

So it’s no surprise that Duke Energy is pressing hard to block the bipartisan Energy Freedom Act – to protect its monopoly control and profits.

North Carolina is one of only five states prohibiting this type of “no money down” solar competition.

Many big businesses support the Energy Freedom Act.

Voters across the political spectrum do too, and legislators need to hear from you.

NC WARN urges you to tell legislators – and friends across North Carolina – to champion the Energy Freedom Act.

This legislation could prove to be a pivotal turning point in the clean energy revolution, and a way for North Carolina to help slow the climate crisis.
