Provence of Carrboro is hosting a series of wine classes one Saturday per month this summer to benefit TABLE! The classes may be purchased individually for $35 or as a series of 4 for $100. All proceeds go to help TABLE feed local hungry kids! The description and dates of each class are below.
The Basis of Wine, Saturday, May 31, 2014, 3pm – 5pm
Come join us to learn how to choose and purchase wine at a store or restaurant, how to taste wine and what makes the difference between a low priced wine and an expensive wine.
Demystifying Bordeaux, Saturday, June 21, 2014, 3pm – 5pm
The wines from the Bordeaux region are not as complicated as they seem. A great Bordeaux does not need to be expensive! We will study the different grape varieties used in Bordeaux and why different growing areas make different wines.
Discovering Burgundy, Saturday, July 19, 2014, 3pm – 5pm
Burgundy, the land of the world’s most famous Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays! Even though it is the birth place of the world’s most expensive wines, we will show the delicious hidden values of these wines and how they pair well with a variety of different food.
The Rhone, Saturday, September 27, 2014, 3pm – 5pm
We will compare the Northern part and the quite different Southern part of the Rhone. Crozes-Hermitage, Gigondas, Cotes du Rhone, Chateauneuf du Pape are appellations that you will learn to love! Discover how the different grape varieties such as Syrah, Mouvedre and Grenache are blended to make delicious wines.
All classes are subject to cancellation if no more than 7 tickets are purchased for each class. You will be notified 3 days before the event. Donations will be refunded if this occurs.
