Why Craft Still Matters

In conjunction with the exhibit A View to the Making: Portraits of North Carolina Craft Artists at Work, exhibit organizer and photographer Michael Schwalbe, the Durham Arts Council, and the Gregg Museum of Art & Design at NC State University presents a panel about craft in North Carolina:

Scheduled panelists include:

Howard Risatti, author of A Theory of Craft

Marilyn Zapf, Associate Director for the Center for Craft, Creativity, and Design

Charlotte Wainwright, North Carolina crafts expert and former director of the Gregg

Mark Hewitt, Internationally Recognized North Carolina Potter and Master Craftsman

The talk is free and open to the public and takes place at the PSI Theater at the Durham Arts Council, 120 Morris St. in downtown Durham.  Panels are sponsored by the Gregg Museum of Art & Design, with support from the Penland School of Crafts and Cedar Creek Gallery.
