PRIVATE SHOPPING EVENT AT SOUTHERN SEASON OFFERS “GROWN UP” PLAY TIME AND SUPPORT FOR LOCAL CHILDREN’S MUSEUM
After-hours party at store will raise funds for Kidzu move to expanded location at University Mall
CHAPEL HILL – While holiday shopping can often feel more like a chore than like fun, Southern Season and Kidzu Children’s Museum are teaming up to offer a private shopping event and party on Sunday, December 8, from 7 to 9 p.m. that promises to be very different. Attendees at this exclusive event will have the chance to shop for items on their holiday lists while enjoying music, wine and food tastings, special discounts, a silent auction, and more.
This festive event will generate funds to support Kidzu’s move in early 2014 to a bigger and better space at University Mall. The new location will allow the museum to serve greater numbers of children and families with expanded educational programming and community events, birthday parties, and brand-new interactive exhibits, serving as a “launch pad” as the museum prepares to build its new state-of-the-art facility in downtown Chapel Hill a few years from now.
“This event will be the perfect way to introduce Kidzu to University Mall and launch the next phase of the museum,” said Pam Wall, Kidzu Executive Director. “We’re excited to be able to offer the community a fun, exciting holiday shopping experience and a great way to support Kidzu.”
During the Southern Season event, a silent action will give shoppers the chance to bid on playful items for adults and kids alike, such as a TOPO Distillery tour, a private story hour at the Chapel Hill library, a party pack (10 tickets) to DSI Comedy Theater, hotel stays, restaurant gift certificates, spa services, and a children’s birthday party at Kidzu. All proceeds from the silent auction, as well as admission fees, will go to Kidzu.
To assist shoppers, Southern Season will offer a concierge service to help with gift basket assembly and shipping needs. Gift wrapping services will also be available, along with a make-it-yourself gift tag design station for those looking to express their creativity.
Tickets for the event are $10 in advance, and are available at Kidzu and online at http://www.kidzuchildrensmuseum.org/planyourvisit/community-fundraisers. Tickets will be $15 at the door.
10% of all sales on the night, including all ticket and auction proceeds will go to Kidzu.
