Juan Delgado discusses his poetry collection Vital Signs (w/ art from UNC MFA students)

In Vital Signs, Delgado focuses partly on weeds, the oft-bemoaned, oft-unappreciated plants that have merit & beauty of their own. The collection weds images taken by photographer Thomas McGovern with Delgado’s poetry, creating a sensory tableau of place and memory.

Juan Delgado has published several books of poetry, El Campo, A Rush of Hands, and Green Web, which received the Contemporary Poetry Series Award and was published by the University of Georgia Press. He holds an M.F.A. from the University of California at Irvine, where he was also a Regents Fellow. He is a professor of English and director of the M.F.A. program in creative writing at California State University, San Bernardino.

This event will also feature a visual art component, care of several of UNC Chapel Hill’s MFA students.
