The Orange County Main Library and the Alliance for Historic Hillsborough, in conjunction with Ipas and the Orange County Rape Crisis Center, will host Family Fun Day in Hillsborough on Saturday, June 8, from 10am to 4pm in downtown Hillsborough. Family Fun Days is a special summer series held on the second Saturday of the month from June through September. Each Family Fun Day will include guided tours, children’s activities, a farmers market, shopping, and dining.
Begin your day at the Orange County Main Library, located at 137 W. Margaret Lane. Children can pick up a Passport to Historic Hillsborough starting at 10am. Inside the Passport you will find names of places to visit in town. Make it your goal to see how many places you can go and how many stamps you can collect!
The event will include a variety of activities for kids of all ages at the Old County Courthouse from 11am – 2pm, such as musical performances from Mary Johnson Rockers, Ubuntu Marimba Ensemble, and others. Mary, a favorite on the local music scene, has been performing throughout the Southeast for 15 years. The Ubuntu Marimba Ensemble is a local Hillsborough group. A bounce house, water balloon toss, face painting, corn hole, and bocce will be set up on the Courthouse lawn. Vendors will sell snacks for attendees to enjoy before or after visiting a local restaurant for lunch.
