In 1966, a UNC campus Christian organization, FOCUS, sponsored the first open sing of Handel’s Messiah for the community. From that beginning, it has evolved into a major annual community Christmas event participated by local soloists, instrumentalists and chorals singers from Chapel Hill and the surrounding community.
