Please help us keep our neighbors warm. The 10th Annual drive to Blanket Orange County begins on Thurs, Nov 21. This year, the goal is to collect 300 new or gently used blankets for the homeless in Orange County. The drive will conclude on Dec 7. Preference is for single/twin size blankets. Once again, H2Only Cleaners in Southern Village is serving as a blanket drop-off location. Other drop-off sites are the Aloft Hotel, Chamber of Commerce, YMCA, Orange County Visitor's Center, UNC Wellness Center and UPS Stores (Meadowmont and 15-501).

The University Mall Chick-fil-A® restaurant in Chapel Hill will celebrate its 25th anniversary all day on Friday, Dec. 6. To celebrate and thank the community, Chick-fil-A will be donating 15% of their lunch time sales (between 11 a.m.-1 p.m.) to a local high school athlete who is fighting Lymphoma. There will also be a cake cutting at 1:25 p.m. and food giveaways, raffle prizes, and arts and crafts for children throughout the rest of the day.

27th Annual Hillsborough Holiday Home Tour

The 27th annual Hillsborough Holiday Home Tour is Sunday, December 8 from Noon – 6 pm featuring seven beautifully decorated private homes in and around the historic district. This year’s theme is Local Talents/Local Traditions and will highlight local storytelling, artists, food demonstrations and live music. In addition various historic sites, churches and public buildings will be open as well. Some of the tour stops will offer refreshments. A shuttle will be available during the tour.

The Chapel Hill-Carrboro Holiday Parade will be held Saturday, December 14, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until approximately 12:00 noon. Presented by the Jaycees and the Town of Chapel Hill, the parade this year again promises to be a great way to start the holiday season. On Saturday, Dec. 14, street parking along East and West Franklin Street will be closed from 8 a.m. to noon, when the parade is expected to wrap up. Towing will be enforced, so please be helpful in keeping these areas clear of parked vehicles on Dec. 8.
