    Hillsborough Holiday Parade

    Participants and spectators at Saturday’s Holiday Parade in Hillsborough withstood rain and chilly temperatures in order to celebrate. Everyone in attendance had a great time watching the floats and crazy vehicles cruise by, and those lucky enough to catch some candy got an early stocking stuffer.

    The North Carolina football team couldn’t match the physicality and intensity of the N.C. State Wolfpack Saturday afternoon inside Kenan Stadium and was soundly beaten 35-7. With the win, the Wolfpack improved to 7-5 on the season, while the Tar Heels dropped to 6-6 overall with the defeat.

    The North Carolina football team dashed out to a commanding 28-7 halftime lead and went on to beat rival Duke 45-20 Thursday night at Wallace Wade Stadium to improve to 6-5 on the season and in the process, gain bowl eligibility. North Carolina regained the Victory Bell and wasted no time painting it Carolina blue.

    The North Carolina football team rallied past Pittsburgh 40-35 Saturday afternoon thanks to a four-touchdown performance from quarterback Marquise Williams that electrified the Kenan Stadium crowd and evened the Tar Heels’ record at 5-5 overall and 3-3 in ACC play.

    Hillsborough Riverwalk Opening Celebration

    The Town of Hillsborough hosted a grand opening of the Riverwalk, a beautiful new park winding over and around the Eno River just minutes from downtown. Mayor Tom Stevens and friends planted a ceremonial first tree and took turns congratulating each of the individuals responsible for making such a nice addition to Hillsborough a reality.

    The North Carolina football team committed sloppy mistakes and was unable to get its offense going early in a 34-17 loss to Virginia Tech Saturday afternoon at Kenan Stadium, dropping to 2-3 on the season.

    With the victory, the Hokies improved to 4-2 in 2014.
