    The North Carolina football team dashed out to a commanding 28-7 halftime lead and went on to beat rival Duke 45-20 Thursday night at Wallace Wade Stadium to improve to 6-5 on the season and in the process, gain bowl eligibility. North Carolina regained the Victory Bell and wasted no time painting it Carolina blue.

    The North Carolina football team rallied past Pittsburgh 40-35 Saturday afternoon thanks to a four-touchdown performance from quarterback Marquise Williams that electrified the Kenan Stadium crowd and evened the Tar Heels’ record at 5-5 overall and 3-3 in ACC play.

    Hillsborough Riverwalk Opening Celebration

    The Town of Hillsborough hosted a grand opening of the Riverwalk, a beautiful new park winding over and around the Eno River just minutes from downtown. Mayor Tom Stevens and friends planted a ceremonial first tree and took turns congratulating each of the individuals responsible for making such a nice addition to Hillsborough a reality.

    The North Carolina football team committed sloppy mistakes and was unable to get its offense going early in a 34-17 loss to Virginia Tech Saturday afternoon at Kenan Stadium, dropping to 2-3 on the season.

    With the victory, the Hokies improved to 4-2 in 2014.

    UNC Division of Physical Therapy Golf Tournament

    The 9th Annual UNC Division of Physical Therapy Golf Tournament benefiting the Foundation for Physical Therapy and UNC’s Student Physical Therapy Association at The Golf Club at Chapel Ridge took place on Friday, September 12th. Volunteers and participants enjoyed the great weather and cold drinks while raising money for an even better cause.

    The North Carolina Tar Heels (2-0) managed to hold San Diego State (1-1) to 27 points while scoring 31 of their own on Saturday night in Kenan Stadium. An interception in the end zone sealed an exciting come-from-behind victory for UNC on a “Stripe-Out” night and the Tar Heels remained undefeated in their quest for a ACC title and NCAA Football Playoff berth.

    Saturday marked the opening of the UNC football season after an off-season focused on the quarterback competition. Freshman Mitch Trubisky joined incumbent starter Marquise Williams in a balanced attack against the Flames, and UNC overcame early stagnation to eventually win, 56-29.
