The Big 8 – 3A Conference Champion Northwood Chargers visited the Chapel Hill Tigers on Thursday, May 4th for a 7:01 first pitch. Although the Chargers had just clinched the conference championship with an Orange Panther loss the previous night, the atmosphere generated at Tiger Park was nothing short of electric. Both teams played with an intensity that would rival most playoff games. The Riverside Durham Pirates and the Chapel Hill Tigers met for a cross town non-conference match up on Thursday, April 20th. The contest was played at Chapel Hill High School with a first pitch of 7:03 p.m. and the WCHL broadcast crew was there for the play by play. WCHL High School Baseball – Chapel Hill Tigers vs. Carrboro Jaguars – April 10, 2017

The Chapel Hill Tigers hosted the Carrboro Jaguars in a non conference game on Monday, April 10th at 7:00.  The game was the second broadcast in WCHL’s expansion of high school sports to include not only football, but basketball and baseball as well.  The Tigers defeated the Jaguars 11 – 1 behind strong pitching performances by senior right hander Jackson Pettee and junior Jake Smith.  Pettee started the game for the Tigers pitching four solid innings.  The senior gave up one run, while allowing only one hit, and striking out two Jaguars in his outing.  Junior ace Jake smith closed out the game in...

WCHL High School Baseball – Chapel Hill HS vs. Orange HS

WCHL’s high school baseball broadcast on March 29, 2017 was the first of WCHL’s expansion of high school sports.  The expansion of these broadcasts will include not only football but basketball and baseball as well.  The first high school baseball game was  broadcast from Chapel Hill High School where the Tigers faced the Orange Panthers in a 7:03 first pitch.  The broadcast crew was welcomed by the Tiger and Panther faithful with great enthusiasm.   Coach Lee Land’s Chapel Hill Tigers defeated Coach Dean Dease’s Orange Panthers 7 – 0.  The Tiger’s winning effort was centered behind the 3 hit shutout pitching of Tiger ace #11 Jake Smith.  Sophomore second...
