Patrick Wooten, Wayne Goodwin, and Karen Popp celebrate John Sanders, who has been a leading light in Chapel Hill since his arrival on campus more than 70 years ago, serving at study body president in 1950. He joined the staff of the Institute of Government beginning in 1951 and served as director for many years. He has been the go-to man when there was a problem or an opportunity in state government. He was also mentor to many young Carolina students and an inspiration to many others.
