Suarez-Malaguti, Price ITA All-Americas

SKILLMAN, N.J. — Senior Gina Suarez-Malaguti and sophomore Caroline Price earned ITA All-America honors for their singles play in 2012-13, the organization announced Thursday. Suarez-Malaguti earned automatic All-America status by virtue of her No. 7 seed in the NCAA singles tournament, while Price was honored after advancing to the NCAA singles round of 16. CHAPEL HILL – UNC Baseball standouts Skye Bolt, Landon Lassiter and Trent Thornton were named to the 2013 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American team, selected by Collegiate Baseball newspaper. This marks the 12th consecutive year UNC has placed at least one player on the team, and there are three Tar Heels honored for the first time since 2005. Three Diamond Heels Earn All-America Honors

CHAPEL HILL – Three Tar Heels earned Louisville Slugger All-America honors for their performance during the 2013 season. Junior starting pitcher Kent Emanuel earned a spot on the first team after going 10-3 with a 2.11 ERA in 15 appearances and 14 starts. Emanuel currently leads the ACC with 10 wins and has averaged nearly eight innings per start en route to a league-high 110.2 innings in 2013. Five Tar Heels Headed To NCAA Outdoor Championship

CHAPEL HILL – Five Tar Heels will compete in the NCAA Outdoor National Championships in Eugene, Ore., June 5-8. Lianne Farber, Cameron Overstreet, Tristine Johnson, Briana Hudson, and Clayton Parros each earned bids to the NCAA Outdoor National Championships based on their performances at the NCAA East Preliminary this past week. Farber will compete in the women’s 1,500. She raced 4:16.67 in the quarterfinal of the event on Saturday and is seeded 11th in the semifinal.
